Jeep and Dodge Owner Stellantis Debuting 10 New EVs in 2021

Ram, Jeep, and Dodge-owner Stellantis will roll out 10 new EV models in 2021, the company’s CEO Carlos Tavares recently confirmed.

If you haven’t heard of Stellantis, that’s because the company was just formed by a $52 billion merger between Fiat Chrysler and Groupe PSA. The pairing makes it the fourth-largest automaker in the world by volume and third-biggest by revenue, as reported by Car and Driver.

The newly-formed company will offer a wide selection of all-electric or hybrid vehicles through 2025 and currently has 29 hybrid or all-electric vehicles on the market across its 14 brands.

“From Dodge to Maserati, every new model the company launches from now until 2025 will offer an “electrified” variant,” CNBC reported. Tavares did not specify how many vehicles would be all-electric, plug-in hybrids or traditional hybrids that don’t need to be plugged in.

The automaker saw shares leap more than 11 percent during its debut on the New York Stock Exchange last week.

The news comes as Tesla continues to dominate the market, and a flurry of EV startups like Rivian, Canoo, and Lordstown Motors draw investors with their innovative plans. Even legacy automakers like GM and Ford – who have for years struggled to catch investors’ attention – have posted some of their biggest gains in years thanks to electrification endeavors.

GM has continued to flex its ambitious plans for total electrification, including the announcement of BrightDrop – a new battery-powered delivery vehicle and equipment business unit. Ford recently revealed plans for an electric cargo van and plug-in F-150 pickup truck.

As electric vehicles continue to gain momentum in the U.S. and across the globe automakers are increasingly finding ways to innovate with new technology and EV models.
Stellantis’ own Jeep brand released its very first electric model of the quintessential Wrangler –  the 4xe, set to make its American debut early this year. Global President of Jeep Brand Christian Meunier even said in January 2020 that each vehicle in the Jeep lineup would have an electric variant by 2022.
